FIRE ROUTINES

  • All occupiers should ne familiar with approved escape routes.

  • Do Not tamper with fire doors, self closers

  • Do Not obstruct fire doors, landings/stairs and escape routes

  • All occupiers should be familiar with the use of the fire fighting equipment

  • All occupiers should be familiar with the use of the fire alarm system

  • Reset Code 51412

  • Smoke detectors should be checked regularly and replace batteries when required

  • Batteries in detectors should not be removed (unless replacing them)

  • NEVER fill a chip pan more than a third full with oil or fat. NEVER leave the pan unattended with the heat turned on. In the event of a fire NEVER throw water on it. Smother with a damp cloth. Fire blanket or lid and leave to cool for at least half an hour – turning off the heat

  • Children should not be left alone, especially in rooms where heating or cooking appliances are used. Keep matches and lighters out of reach

  • DO NOT leave Christmas lights or Fairly light on while you are out

  • Keep an eye on elderly – especially with cigarettes and pipes

  • Take care with electric blankets

  • DO Not smoke in bed

 

  • At night –

Switch off all electric appliances

Check for burning cigarettes

Close all doors – especially fire doors

  • In the event of discovery of a fire

Press any manual call points to sound alarm if not activated

Evacuate the house

Dial 999 and call the Fire Brigade

Do not attempt to fight a fire if it endangers your own or others safety
